This is my newest project, heavily based on previous ones. It doesn’t have a name yet.

I took few systems from Nomadust, and significantly improved them.

The Builder

I changed it in the following ways:

  • You don’t need shipyard and crafting systems anymore.
All you need to do is to pick a frame from the inventory and you’re ready to build.
  • Sections can be attached and detached anywhere and anytime.
You can even split the ship in two, and connect them later.
Previously players had to build whole frame at once and latter changes weren’t allowed.
  • These changes along with other improvements resulted in much better user experience.

The Walls

I disliked the boring look of flat walls and floors, that I applied in Nomadust.
That approach was heavily based on textures and it was difficult to make it look good.

I decided to create more detailed walls instead.
Current approach looks more interesting and doesn’t depend on textures that much.

Walls in both projects are procedural.

The Islands

I decided to go with procedural approach for islands as well.
I used planets previously, but inter-planetary travel doesn’t side well with medieval weapons and ships, islands are a better choice.

I still haven’t finished coding the mesh generation, but I plan to add colors, nature and water in the future.
The shaders and coloring are going to be position based.
